Story Walkthrough

About Sojourner | Screenshots | Guides & Tips | Purchase

A quick note about this guide: the following information and screenshots will inform you where to go next in order to advance the game’s story. You can also access similar information in-game using an item called the “Telepathy Ring,” but this guide can be of further help if you really get stuck.

Tips for how to defeat bosses are not included here. Part of the fun of the game is playing it for yourself. However, if you want to learn about the various classes’ skills and features, or perhaps all the game’s sidequests, there are guides for those things too.

Table of contents (this is a long, long page; use CTRL+F to find the appropriate chapter):

  1. Chapter 1
  2. Chapter 2
  3. Chapter 3

1. Chapter 1: World

1
When you first gain control of your character after the opening cutscene, walk a little west and talk to Rhonda. Add some party members– the game is meant to be played with at least 4.
2
You’ll have to visit the weapon & armor shopkeeper before you’re allowed to leave town. Buying the best weapons and armor with your starting Coins is essential to survive early on.
3
You also need to visit the item shop. Buy some healing items if you have any Coins leftover from buying weapons and armor.
4
After leaving town, walk northwest for a good distance.
5
Eventually, you’ll find this cave, “The West Hole.”
7
This is the inside of the cave. The stairs down are in the northeast corner.
8
In the northernmost part of the second floor, you’ll find this chest with this item. A good way to leave the cave from this point is with a Dinosaur Feather item, and you can find one in another chest nearby.
6
From the starting town, Morrieta, head northeast and arrive at this cave. You’ll be able to enter using the item you just found to unlock a gate.
9
Eventually, the fire cave will turn into an ice cave.
10
Taking one more step south will result in a boss battle.
11
This is the game’s first boss.
12
After a cutscene, you can leave the cave and arrive in this spot. Go east from here, following the path.
13
You will find the town of Rialto.
14
Talk to the elder in the northernmost house in town.
15
Go southwest of the town and find this oasis dungeon.
16
This is what it looks like when you enter.
17
North from the entrance are these stairs down.
18
Somehow, there’s an ice cave down the stairs.
19
After exploring for a bit, you’ll find some other stairs going up.
20
When you open this chest, you will get into a boss fight.
21
This is the boss.
22
After winning, you instantly arrive back in town.
23
Go south along the path and you can now move on to the next continent.
24
Follow the path for a long while southwest, and you’ll find the town of Verdantura.
25
Talk to the elder in the back of town.
26
Go east of the town to this mountain dungeon.
27
Eventually, you’ll get to these stairs, where a boss battle awaits at the top.
28
This is the boss.
29
After a cutscene, you’ll have a ship.
30
Sail a little southwest to this wasteland continent.
31
Follow the winding path to get to this town, Fairland.
32
Talk to the elder.
34
This character who lives on an island hints that you need an airship.
35
This stone slab on the wall on another island tells you how to enter the ancient civilization, where the airship is.
36
Sail to this large island, in the northeast corner of the world. Use your world map item if you need help finding it. The only entry point is seen in this screenshot. Go north from here and enter each of the 4 caves you see.
37
The first cave has a simple rock-pushing puzzle.
38
The second cave has a fairly easy trivia puzzle.
39
The third cave has an unpardonably easy floor tile puzzle. Just light up each tile. You’ll get it eventually.
40
The final cave has a chest, and there is a boss battle inside.

33
Then sail to this part of this island, on the southwest corner of the world map (or just northeast of the island you were just on, because the world is round)
33.5
Head south and get to this dungeon.
41
Using the 4 items you got from those cave puzzles, you can get inside. You have to flip a series of switches here.
42
First one is by examining this bookshelf.
43
Second switch.
44
Third switch.
45
Fourth switch.
46
Fifth switch.
47
Sixth and final switch. By the way, examining the wrong coffin will result in combat. After flipping all the switches, an airship will appear outside.
48
This is your airship now.
49
You can fly to Zed’s Castle on the ice island, but can’t enter yet.
50
Go west from Zed’s Castle to find this igloo dungeon.
51
At the bottom floor of this dungeon is a chest, opening it will be a boss battle.
52
This is the boss.
53
You’ll get the Orb of Heroes, which lets you enter Zed’s Castle. Go back east to Zed’s castle on the ice continent.
54
After a simple but somewhat-lengthy dungeon, you’ll be at these stairs. At the top is a boss battle.
55
After defeating the boss, you’ll be outside, and can go through this portal.

2. Chapter 2: New World

56
Hopping through that portal brings you here. Go north and into the town.
57
Talk to the elder and he’ll give you a key.
58
You can use the key to open this door that’s just a little east from the town.
58-1
Very far to the northwest, on the island with the tower, is this hidden house.
58-2
The lady inside hints that 4 items are needed to enter the tower. So go collect them.
59
The forest dungeon is just southwest of that house, across the bridge and in this massive forest. If going here from the town you were at, it’s to the northeast of that town.
60
There is another trivia puzzle here. It’s very hard. Starting in the bottom right and going counter-clockwise, here is the answer to question 1.
61
Question 2.
62
Question 3.
63
Question 4.
64
Question 5.
65
Question 6.
66
Question 7.
67
Question 8. The final one. After answering it correctly, you will get an item.
68
From there, head southeast to begin the trek to the next dungeon.
69
Cross the bridge to this icy continent.
70
Find this dungeon in the middle of the icy continent.
71
There’s a room in the dungeon where you have to solve this simple, obnoxious puzzle. You’ll get the item.
72
Leave the dungeon and begin going north.
73
Keep going north, cross this bridge, and keep going north some more.
74
You can eventually find this town surrounded by swamp. You can walk through the swamp taking a lot of damage, or can walk along the edge until you find the path that runs through it.
75
Talk to the elder in town.
76
Directly south of that town is the next dungeon.
77
There’s a rock-pushing puzzle inside. It’s not too hard, but you have to hit that switch first, which destroys another rock that had made it impossible.
78
Leave the dungeon and start going west.
79
You’ll eventually see this sign. Keep going west.
80
Eventually the path will turn and you’ll go a little north to this dungeon.
81
Inside, find this entryway.
82
Smash this pot to get a key.
83
Now find this other entrance– the path to get to it can be hard to spot, but this location is actually right near the entrance of the map.
84
Using the key, you can get further inside and find this chest, which has a boss.
85
This is the boss.
86
Now you can enter that tower in the center of the world.
87
You’ll need keys to get to the top, just like Zed’s castle. Here’s the first one, west of the entrance.
88
In the other direction is the door it unlocks.
89
Another key is in this chest.
90
Go up another floor.
91
At the top of these stairs is the boss.

3. Chapter 3: World 20XX

92
After defeating the boss, you’ll be back outside and there’s yet ANOTHER portal. Go through it. Be warned, the game takes a huge difficulty spike here.
93
Go through the portal and walk a little north to get to this place.
94
Inside, this princess tells you that you have to find and defeat the 4 Demon Lords. She will also give you a ship to explore the world.
95
If you sail northwest, you can get to the eastern side of the ice island.
96
Walk a little north from there and you’ll find a simple maze dungeon.
97
When you find the dungeon proper, the enemies get much harder.
98
At the end of the dungeon is the Demon Lord.
99
To get to the next Demon Lord, first go to this small island on the western edge of the world map.
100
Inside, Daddio will give you Dynamite in a cutscene.
101
You can sail a little south from there, going up into an alcove, for a shortcut to the dungeon.
102
This is the dungeon, just north and a little east of that alcove in the previous screenshot.
103
This is what it looks like. Remember, super hard monsters in here.
104
At the end is the Demon Lord.
105
Sail to this desert island that is just south of the Rebel Camp where you started.
106
In the southwest corner of this island is a cave, go inside.
107
At the end, rescue this character from some not-too-difficult slimes. You will get an item that allows you to enter the main dungeon.
108
Walk to the northern tip of the same island to find this town dungeon. You can get inside now.
109
At the end of the dungeon is the Demon Lord boss.
110
Sail to this cave. It’s straight north of the Rebel Camp, and a little west.
111
On the 2nd floor (or later), you’ll find a chest with two items in it, one of which is “Bosser’s Key.”
112
From that cave, head north and east to find a bridge that connects to the large landmass to the west.
113
From that bridge in the previous screenshot, go southwest along the path to this town.
114
Talk to the king.
115
Go to these steps.
116
You can unlock the door and fight these enemies with the key you got.
117
After defeating them, go down the steps, entering the dungeon. Flip all the switches you see.
118
At the end, fight the Demon Lord.
119
You could always enter this Tower, but now you can get to the top with these 4 gems you’ve collected. Also, the enemies inside are super tough. This is at the northernmost point of the world map.
120
When you enter, you’ll immediately find a key that allows you to open the chests in this dungeon. The items inside are the most powerful in the game.
121
At the top floor, you get to this gate, which you can now open after defeating the Demon Lords.
122
This is the final boss. He is very hard, and most players die on their first try. You’ll want at least two characters (if not three, or all four) equipped with Star Medals in order to survive, and at least two characters should be able to fully heal, and resurrect, all allies to full health (again, having more characters capable of this will help a lot). It’s a hard fight, but you can do it. The ending is very worth it.
